NFTs have suddenly become the talk of the art world, in part because these unique files authenticate ownership of an asset. Christie’s sold an NFT-backed digital collage by graphic designer and artist Beeple for $69.3 million this spring, bringing the tokens into the mainstream. Experts believe that anything can be turned into an NFT, and destinations could be next. This idea is quite rational. Imagine traveling to a specific location and receiving an NFT as a reward for checking in or leaving reviews on certain sites.
